Etymology

Borrowed from the Arabic 'dhu al-qa'dah', meaning the month of rest or sitting. This term was adopted into Indonesian as the name of the 11th month in the Hijri calendar, referring to the pre-Islamic Arab tradition of abstaining from warfare.
