The use of the 'survey' form remains deeply ingrained due to the dominance of foreign literature and technical terms in the professional world. Many feel the original form looks more formal or global compared to the naturalized version.

This word originates from the English 'survey' which is rooted in Old French 'surveer'. During the loanword absorption process into Indonesian, the '-ey' suffix was adjusted to the local phonetic system as '-ei' to maintain pronunciation similarity.

In Indonesian academic and business contexts, writing 'survey' is often used unconsciously as a form of linguistic prestige. However, in official state administration, the standard form is mandatory for document standardization.
